A sluggish mess out of the box.

My Samsung tab A (2019) seemed sluggish compared to my iPhone 13 so I thought I’d try upgrading. Even at a $99 sale, this Lenovo tablet is not an upgrade. Errors. Long waits. Frustrating out of the box settings that I’ll probably need to spend an hour figuring out how to change. Update: hours later and several restarts later it’s behaving better. Added a star.

If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive small Android tablet, this one is worth considering. It does all the things you want a tablet to do, competently. You can augment the storage capacity with a micro-SD card, cheaply. Battery life is quite good in my experience with light use. The best part to me is that it's very light and easy to use for reading, messaging, etc.

The negatives aren't serious imo. The network card supports wifi but won't go above 400mbps. Not stellar, but good enough. The resolution is good enough for most purposes, but of course doesn't reach what the latest and greatest can do.

I was honestly surprised with how decent this tablet is. It’s not the strongest piece of equipment but for the price it works quite well. It took a little bit to turn off some of the default apps that I don’t plan on using, but once I got all the non essential apps disabled or uninstalled it seemed quite snappy. Even browsing the web is pretty responsive as long as you don’t have 10+ tabs open.

The main reason I got this tablet was because my old kindles battery started expanding and pushing the screen out so I mainly plan on using it for kindle reading and reading some manga. The screen is bright enough and the letters and images are crisp. Honestly it is a step up from the kindle that I have had since 2020.

I can’t say anything about the battery yet (reason being I’ve only had it for a day) but so far it seems like as long as I don’t have the brightness turned up all the way the battery will be more then sufficient for what I’m asking from the tablet. The WiFi strength is honestly better than my old kindle, that thing struggled to work on 5ghz in my bedroom and this thing works just fine.

If you plan on using this tablet for gaming I would look for something a little more powerful (sad to say the 8 inch size is hard to find with a good cpu/ram) but for a kindle alternative it works amazing.

I bought this tablet to replace my Fire 7, have had it for a few days, and I'm very impressed. My main use is reading Kindle ebooks, and watching some YouTube and Netflix. Setup was quick and easy. I was able to uninstall (using ADB) the Lenovo and Google bloatware that I didn't want and free up space, install apps and set up the features that I did want, and get going. It is quick and responsive, I haven't had any issues with lagging or freezing. Plenty of RAM and storage for my ebooks and apps. Battery life is amazing! I'm on day 3 of light use, a few hours of reading and internet surfing each day, and still have 65+ battery. Overall, I'm impressed and happy with this purchase!

Sadly, this tablet did not work out for me. At the time I ordered it, a lot was going on in my life. It sat for 2-3 weeks before I got around to trying to set it up. At first go, everything seemed great, but after an update that pushed when I clicked on the OS update button was installed, the tablet was like a different device. It simply did not work right in many facets.

I followed up by doing a full reset to supposedly fresh out of the box condition. This did not remedy the issues. Time was running out for my 30 day no questions asked return. I elected to take that route rather than fight the good fight to figure out what was ailing this device.

I'm a decade retired network hardware installation and integration engineer. A younger me would have relished this challenge, but not the current me.

I recommend that anyone interested in this tablet concentrate their research on the most current material they can find about the tablet. Hopefully, I had a one-off problem, or Lenovo has cleaned up whatever happened in my situation, because the tablet, in the short time it worked, was making a favorable impression on me.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:
I purchased this tablet to do particularly 3 things - listen to Spotify, listen to Hoopla audio books, and watch videos using Brave browser, so that I don't drain my phone's battery using it , while at home. For those needs this tablet more than delivers. It is not by any means a powerhouse, and I'd not recommend it if you want to play games or even open a bunch on chrome tabs, but it opens the apps I need it to open adequately fast, and the speakers, albeit a bit flat, are plenty lound. I had tried to use a Fire tablet for the same purpose and sent it back immediately,- it was laggy, slow, speakers were bad and I couldn't install Brave browser on it.

All in all - if you are buying this tablet for light use cases - it works great.
