  Haven't seen boot times this slow since the days of 2ghz chips and mechanical drives and I'm being generous. Ask it to do multiple things and it lags. Can't even keep up with my typing. Played an old dx9 game on it and it managed to play smoothly. Going to install my nvme game drive and see how it handles my games. My old AMD ryzen 7 2700x booted faster. Browsing Facebook, using messenger and checking your email should be fine. After further use i haven't seen the 'working' icon so much since the glory days of the AMD Duron 600Mhz on mechanical drives. Infact i might give the edge to the Duron. The BIOS does not support a mouse within it. Fortunately I'm an old school nerd and know how to get around a bios using the keys. I don't know if it's because of the external drives or not but Windows Explorer crashes. I don't think they pay much attention to the reviews or they would have reached out to me.

  About a dozen times this unit loses the internet connection then crashes to a green screen. Brand new install with hardly anything running. Seems to be defective. Cannot even install new graphics drivers because it crashes during installation.

  Solid Performer, but Windows License Was Not Valid

  I bought this mini PC for a client who needed a new computer for typical home use - web access, e-mail, writing documents, managing budgets, kids' homework - but with 1TB of onboard storage. Prices on memory products have shot up recently, and this model was priced attractively compared to other mini PCs with that much onboard storage, plus GMKtec was a company whose products I'd had good experiences with before, so it seemed like a good choice.

  I have no complaints about the hardware. Actually, I rather like the distinctive styling. This model also stands out for having a USB4 port, while others in this price range usually have USB C 3.2 ports. Most people don't have any USB C devices, much less USB4, but a little future-proofing can't hurt, right? It also has dual 2.5 Gb/sec Ethernet ports. Most buyers probably wouldn't need more than one Ethernet port, and a 1 Gb/sec (gigabit) port would be fine, but having dual 2.5 Gb/sec ones is interesting and might be helpful for some niche uses. The most curious feature of this model is the OCuLink port. I mostly see OCuLink ports on higher-end mini PCs whose manufacturers want to make it possible to use them as true gaming PCs; the use the OCuLink port to connect a dock that holds a real video card. It seems a bit odd to me to include OCuLink in a mini PC that doesn't aspire to such high performance applications, but it doesn't hurt, either. (If you look up OCuLink, you'll see that in theory, it can be used to attach other high-speed peripherals, but in practice, I've only seen it used for attaching high-end video card docks, specifically to mini PCs.)

  One notable thing lacking with this mini PC is a VESA mounting kit. Most mini PCs include a kit to enable you to mount the mini PC on the back of a monitor with VESA screw holes, monitor mounts or even just a wall or a desk. Not only does the GMKtec NucBox M8 not come with such a kit, but there is no provision whatsoever on the mini PC to work with such a kit. It's simply intended to sit on the desk, maybe under the monitor or even hidden in an alcove or a drawer, and stand on its feet. This isn't an issue for me, because most of my clients find it more convenient to have their mini PCs sit on the desk under the screen, where they can easily see and reach the power button and USB ports.

  Speaking of USB ports, this one has four Type A (regular flat) USB ports. One, on the back, is USB 2.0, and the rest are USB 3.2.

  Setup is the textbook Microsoft Windows 11 OOBE (Out of Box Experience) with one exception: GMKTec has customized the OOBE to let you click on an 'I don't have Internet' link on the screen that lets you connect to a wi-fi network. This makes it easy to set the computer up with a local user account rather than a Microsoft account. In fact, they encourage you to do so via a sticker that they've placed over the Ethernet ports. The sticker has a message printed on it that suggests that you set the computer up BEFORE you plug in any Ethernet cables. I wholeheartedly approve, as most of my clients prefer to have their computers set up without a Microsoft account. Of course, if you want to set your computer up with a Microsoft account, there's nothing wrong with that. Just go ahead and remove that sticker on the Ethernet ports and plug in your network cable, or connect the mini PC up to your wi-fi network when the setup wizard lands on that page.

  I did discover one problem, for which I subtracted a star: my GMKtec NucBox M8 shipped without a valid Windows license. That is to say, it had Windows 11 Pro installed on it, but Windows wasn't activated. Since I'm a professional IT consultant who charges for his time, and the time spent setting up a new computer for a client is worth more than the cost of a Windows license, I decided to simply purchase a Windows license for the mini PC rather than send it back or work with GMKTec on this. If this happens to you, and you don't have paid time invested in your computer setup, then I would recommend you contact Amazon for resolution.

  Great little PC – Well worth the money

  Like many of us the time arrived to upgrade from Windows 10 but my outdated PC couldn’t be upgraded. I prefer desktops but the new Windows 11 models were outrageously expensive. So I did some lookin’ around and discovered the world of mini PCs.

  Based on other reviews I zoomed in on GMKtec, and this model Nuk Box M6 Ultra seemed to have all the capabilities I needed: Compact size, fast processor, SSD drives and DR5 memory. And with this model you can even upgrade the SSD and the memory. It also comes with built in WiFi and Bluetooth.

  I received the PC in a couple days, plugged it in and in minutes it was up and running Windows 11, though it did take a little time to connect to Microsoft and upgrade the software. The nice thing is that it only takes 22 seconds for the Windows desktop to appear after I turn it on!

  It is very fast and from the video I uploaded here you can see it not only supports 3 monitors but plays three video streams at the same time flawlessly without a glitch, stutter or freeze. I also had no problem with WiFi connectivity as the PC detected and connected to my WiFi quickly and seamlessly. There was also no evidence of overheating, and fan noise was hardly noticeable (my cat purrs louder). The sound though headphones and external amplified speakers was crisp without static or fuzziness.

  I can’t comment on the types of games you can actually play on the M6 as I’m not a game player but from other reviewers it seems they were quite satisfied with its performance. I was totally satisfied the number of browser windows I could open and programs I could run simultaneously.

  . The only thing I question are the inclusion of two LAN jacks as I don’t believe two are necessary or practical for home use. There is also no separate microphone input jack however that is easily overcome by using an inexpensive audio splitter cable or a USB microphone. Finally a live chat box would be nice for solving problems without having to play email tag.

  All in all,the M6 utlra performs like a little workhorse, and for the money, it’s a great value.

  Decent bang for the buck, Type C port circuitry of questionable quality

  Been a decent CPU for the price paid. I haven't had the hardware all that long. Just a few months.

  Speeds been pretty solid. i.e the Performance. Noise level is extremely low. I've basically just used it as a

  glorified web/Youtube PC though.

  The ONLY issue I've had so far, is a USB Type C port in front, decided to stop working, at least the 'Power delivery' of said port stopped working to some degree. I normally plugged my phone up to it, to tether & charge.. and it 'FUBAR'D' on me...for some reason?

  So that was a bummer. B/c I'd already partially transferred files to this new computer.. so its not like I could just 'return it'..

  Works great when it runs! I have purchased 2 of these the first one the fan failed in the first month. I didn't like the RGB any way so a fixed with an aftermarket fan. It is an awesome PC. The second one delivered on March 3, 2026 would not connect to Wi-Fi had to buy a USB dongle got it connected. Only to have the PC lock up reboot and will not go to windows. There is no boot drive detected! so failed HHD?

  This MINI PC... Games (and a whole lot more)!

  This is my 3rd Mini PC from GMKTec, and I've been very impressed with all of them. This latest model has an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS with integrated Radeon 780M graphics and is being marketed as a mini gaming PC, so I thought I'd put it to the test. I installed Fortnite through the Epic Games Launcher and asked my son to demo. I attached some pictures and a video, but he was surprised at how well it ran the game on high settings. My monitor tops out at 2K resolution (2560x1440 pixels / QHD 1440p), and while not 4K, he was still playing with good quality and frame rate without having to drop to 1080p (which is fine too).

  The fan does get a little noisy during heavy loading (i.e., gaming), but it isn't too bad. I recalled my first GMKTec mini PC has the ability to run in a lower power mode with slower fan speeds through BIOS adjustments, so I looked through the BIOS on this PC but didn't find what I was looking for. I'll need to dig a little deeper here.

  This PC has Windows 11 Pro 64-bit, so Pro is an unexpected upgrade, although with the networking capabilities this PC has, it probably is a necessity. It has 32.0GB RAM and a 2.0TB SSD. There are traditional USB A slots on the back for keyboard and mouse, but it also has numerous USB C 4.0 ports on the front and back, one of which is directly next to the power plug. I need to look into this because I may be able to use my 140W USB-C wall charger to power this PC through its USB-C 4.0 port instead of using the larger laptop-style charger brick and cable that it came with.

  I attached some benchmark results, including one from CPU-Z showing this PC's processor is slightly faster in single and multi-thread testing compared to an Intel Core i9-11900K.

  This PC is fast, and the little LED multi-colored fan is a nice touch. The top clear lid comes off easily if you turn it counter-clockwise about 45° - putting it back on is easy too by doing the inverse.

  Out of the 3 GMKtec PCs I've purchased, I had an issue requiring support only once with the first PC. Their support team responded within 12 hours and quickly resolved my issue.

  If you're looking for something small to free up desk space but powerful enough to do anything business-related while being able to game too, then this PC is a great choice for you. I purchased their next model down, the GMKTec NucBox K8 Plus, to run in our conference room at work, and it handles large assemblies in SolidWorks (3D CAD software) very smoothly. I know you'd be surprised at the performance at any size, but in something this small, it is remarkable. Laptop components in a mini PC form factor for the win! I'll never buy a huge tower again.

  After testing that, I could see that the CPU is the star of this machine, making it perfect for heavy workflow, server use etc.

  Even tho I know the GPU is not the best, I still performed tests in a couple of games to check. Obviously, with the integrated graphics, you can't expect to be running games at High settings. *everything was tested at 1080p*

  CS2 High settings:

  AVG: 60fps

  Highest: 78fps

  CS2 Low settings with FSR:

  AVG: 85fps

  Highest: 100fps

  Valorant low settings:

  AVG: 180fps

  Highest: 210fps

  Valorant High settings:

  AVG: 160fps

  Highest: 200fps

  Definitely not bad! I also tested emulator games such as Wii, Wii-u, switch and PS2 and it was running every game smoothly. The best way to fully enjoy this pc is with the Oculink port. Plug in your own GPU and you can run any game without a problem.

  In terms of CPU temps, lowest was 52c and highest was 82c while on full load. On full load, I gotta say the fan has gotten pretty loud. The rest of the system ran pretty cool, staying around 40-50c.

  Finally, pros and cons

  PROS:

  -Great aesthetic

  -Quality materials used

  -Upgradeable (Dual M.2 slots 4TB max and 96GB of ram max)

  -Versatile (4 display outputs, dual LAN ports, Oculink port)

  -Great performance

  -Windows 11 pro pre-installed and activated

  CONS:

  -Noisy fan when in load

  -Integrated graphics

  -A bit pricey

  To sum up, if we're not talking about gaming, this mini pc can handle absolutely anything from office work, video editing, Entertainment, emulation, router, anything. What I love the most about it is that you can transform it in whatever you want, it could be a router, a powerful gaming server, a NAS, an office computer, gaming pc (with oculink), you get the point. I would say this is worth it if you are looking for a compact, powerful and versatile machine!

  After testing that, I could see that the CPU is the star of this machine, making it perfect for heavy workflow, server use etc.

  Even tho I know the GPU is not the best, I still performed tests in a couple of games to check. Obviously, with the integrated graphics, you can't expect to be running games at High settings. *everything was tested at 1080p*

  CS2 High settings:

  AVG: 60fps

  Highest: 78fps

  CS2 Low settings with FSR:

  AVG: 85fps

  Highest: 100fps

  Valorant low settings:

  AVG: 180fps

  Highest: 210fps

  Valorant High settings:

  AVG: 160fps

  Highest: 200fps

  Definitely not bad! I also tested emulator games such as Wii, Wii-u, switch and PS2 and it was running every game smoothly. The best way to fully enjoy this pc is with the Oculink port. Plug in your own GPU and you can run any game without a problem.

  In terms of CPU temps, lowest was 52c and highest was 82c while on full load. On full load, I gotta say the fan has gotten pretty loud. The rest of the system ran pretty cool, staying around 40-50c.

  Finally, pros and cons

  PROS:

  -Great aesthetic

  -Quality materials used

  -Upgradeable (Dual M.2 slots 4TB max and 96GB of ram max)

  -Versatile (4 display outputs, dual LAN ports, Oculink port)

  -Great performance

  -Windows 11 pro pre-installed and activated

  CONS:

  -Noisy fan when in load

  -Integrated graphics

  -A bit pricey

  To sum up, if we're not talking about gaming, this mini pc can handle absolutely anything from office work, video editing, Entertainment, emulation, router, anything. What I love the most about it is that you can transform it in whatever you want, it could be a router, a powerful gaming server, a NAS, an office computer, gaming pc (with oculink), you get the point. I would say this is worth it if you are looking for a compact, powerful and versatile machine!

  [EDIT - The M7 Pro to UHD65 Projector, disconnect issues, have been resolved by changing the default AMD display settings. I've no more issues with the M7 Pro, it is an excellent device.]

  My laptop died and I needed a quick replacement. I've been using a gaming laptop for many years as a Home Theater 4K PC, attached to an Dolby ATMOS audio receiver and UHD65 4K projector. I looked to XMass sales, for a similar laptop replacement when I noticed these mini-PCs with have more power, duplicating anything the dead laptop had done, all at a third of the price of a laptop.

  This product was in-stock and delivered the next day. It simply worked, integrating seamlessly into the dead laptop's Home Theater roll. It came with Windows 10 Pro installed and activated and upgraded to Windows 11 Pro without issue.

  One problem (since resolved) was that I'd have is a sporadically audio corruption on YouTube video playback that goes away if the video is restarted. This does not happen with every YouTube video but does happen. The audio is connected via HDMI to an audio receiver. I'm still trying to figure this out as updating software and trying different windows audio settings has not fixed the issue.

  Even after all Windows updates were download and installed, you need to get the latest appropriate, AMD software suit versus what comes with this mini-PC as they seem well out of date. At least according to the AMD site.

  Assuming I get as much longevity out of this mini-PC as the laptop I will have upgraded my Home Theater PC at a fraction of the cost.

  This is the review I posted on Amazon: My big desktop was done and it was time to buy a new computer. Because I travel between the Home and the Cottage I needed something smaller. A laptop was out of the question (too expensive and too limited). I bought this mini computer. 6 month later I can say this was a very good decision. This PowerHouse replaced my big desktop and is even better. I am a software developer and need to run 'have duty' software, such as Visual Studio or Android Studio. I installed Ubuntu and I run Windows professional in Virtual Box. With a good CPU and 32Gb Ram I can run all this at the same time and never see any issues. This is the best machine I have used. At some point the fan became a bit noisy. The customer service arranged for a new fan. Replacing was easy - just 4 screws and the new fan was in place. If you think 'Mini' is a toy - don't. This is a serious computer - ready for serious tasks. Not a toy at all.

  Thought this was a fantastic buy at first. The system ran great and was really impressed with it. Also got an email from the company talking about warranty. I thought this was also great. Well 1 month in the both the USB-c port stopped sending signal to 2 monitors. I bought this system as a trade systems and needed 4 screen output. Well I put in for service request and got an email with instructions on how to uninstall windows and reinstall windows to try to fix it. I did try this and it did not work. Since then the company has ghosted me. Many emails have gone unanswered. Contacted Amazon and nothing yet. Everything is great until you need service and then you are left to your own devise. DONT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU EXPECT SERVICE OR THEM TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY!
